Tadé was founded 29 years ago through a love of history and the
Levantine Mediterranean region.
Aleppo soap is the oldest form of soap in the world and the forerunner of Traditional Savon de Marseille. Thaddée de Slizewicz, the founder, is dedicated to perpetuating the wonders of Aleppo soap in a sustainable and ethical way, investing in the region, infrastructure and people involved. Now employing 15 full time team in Syria and a further 10 in France, 'authenticity, pleasure and elegance' underpins their direction and ethos. In 2023 they made 30tons of Pure Aleppo Soap and we are honoured to bring them to, and represent them in the UK.
Made between December and March, immediately following the Olive harvest, the Olive and Laurel Oils are saponified in a cauldron over 7-14days then the paste is poured on the floor and left to set. It is stamped and cut then left to dry for 9 months before being packed and shipped to France.
This authentic bar has been manufactured using ancient methodology dating back two thousand years. It helps to soothe irritation and balance the trickiest of skins
It owes its exceptional skincare properties to the Olive oil which softens, protects and maintains the skin and the Laurel oil, which is loaded with essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins.
The specific manufacturing of this soap results in skin identical PH.
Like Traditional Savon de Marseille that it inspired, the oils are 'baked' in a cauldron over around 9 days between December and March each year. Once left to dry and set they are sliced and stamped into bars and left to air dry for 9months. The soap, a living product, becomes darker and harder on the outside, greener and softer on the inside. Once ready to use it will be able to float in water, proof of its authenticity.
Aleppo Soap can be used for personal hygiene, hand washing of textiles, particularly fine, fragile and delicate lingerie, as well as in pre-washing, for difficult stains and very dirty fabrics. It can also be dissolved and used in your washing machine and to clean your floor.
