Founded in 1856, the Fer à Cheval soap factory is the oldest and largest soap factory in Marseille. We are one of the very last in France to perpetuate the traditional manufacture of Marseille soap under the expert eyes of our master soap makers.

Moisten your sponge or your dish brush, rub it directly on the soap, clean your dishes then rinse and dry. In order to save water and energy while washing efficiently, immerse the dishes instead of washing them under the tap and respect the recommended doses. An effective wash does not require a large amount of foam.

Fer a Cheval is the oldest and most renowned Savonnerie in Marseille.

Recently awarded EPV, 'living heritage' status, a recognition from the French state for French companies that have an artisanal or industrial know-how of excellence and a founding member of the Union of Savon de Marseille, Fer a Cheval are champions of authentic traditional soap making, and the leaders and authority on Savon de Marseille and a cornerstone of Marseille's culture.

Dishwashing Marseille Soap Bar with Baking Soda | 225g

Tried to use it for its intended purpose, doing the washing up, I missed the lather I have with regular washing up liquid. But it definitely made things clean! I’m just too stuck in my old ways I think. I now repurposed it as a stain remover bar for clothes.

I like it - and was prepared to adjust how I do my dishes. Takes a little extra elbow grease to get the job done, but for me it’s worth it to not have harsh chemicals on my hands. The dish with the soap and the little brush perched on top looks very chic to me.

Excellent product, I needed to to earn how to use it , I began by putting too much on the brush at first, now just rub the bar with the wet dishwashing brush , I find it works well and is also very long lasting and gentle on my hands
